Wharekauhau (pronounced 'forry-ko-ho') Country Estate near Featherston on New Zealand's North Island was awarded the prestigious Andrew Harper's Grand Award for both 1998 and 2004. Situated on a 5000-acre working sheep station, Wharekauhau was completely rebuilt in 1997. The main lodge is modelled on the lines of an Edwardian country manor overlooking 16 miles of stunning coastal scenery, black volcanic sandy beaches, green pastures, deer forests and cloud-capped mountains.

Wharepapa Cottage is a three-bedroom cottage with unparalleled views of Palliser Bay. One Queen, one double and one twin bedroom, two bathrooms with separate bath and shower, open plan living area with gas fireplace, full kitchen and dining area. Fully air-conditioned, the cottage also has laundry facilities and is located just 2 km from Wharekauhau Lodge. Own transportation is recommended. ON REQUEST BASIS. Cottage guests have full access to the Lodge, recreation facilities, exclusive tours and activities. Complimentary bar, tea/coffee, home-made cookies and basic breakfast items (fruit, cereal, juice, milk, bread, etc.).

Chateau Wellington is a 4,600 sq. ft fully furnished three-bedroom house offering the ultimate in privacy and luxury with spectacular views of Palliser Bay. All three bedrooms have a Queen-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with separate shower and claw foot bath, gas fireplace and air-conditioning. The house has a large open plan living area with gas fireplace, full kitchen and dining area. Fully air-conditioned, the house is located just 1 km from Wharekauhau Lodge.
